Barcelona is a city full of history, which you can see by taking a walk through its streets. Each corner, building and neighborhood allows you to discover a little bit more of the city and its secrets. Yurbban Passage Hotel & Spa was not going to fall short of this, its own building also has a great history behind it.

The building was constructed in 1878 by Joan Cirici, the owner of a textile factory and warehouse. The entrance of the hotel conserves his initials. During the Middle Ages, this Passage embodied the textile pulse of the city. Industries, workshops and textile businesses brought life to the small premises they housed, converting it into a meeting point between locals and merchants. Yurbban wanted to maintain that essence so characteristic of the passage, and so it was conserved and reopened to pay homage to all the history preceding it.

The passage is the link between two very important neighborhoods of the city: Eixample and Sant Pere, and connects the center commerce with the culture and art so characteristic of the city. Yurbban Passage Hotel & Spa is located a few meters from the cultural epicenter of Barcelona, where one can find emblematic buildings such as the Palau de la Música, an icon of the city and declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco.

The passage also forms part of the literary Barcelona, with mentions in different literary works such as: Pilar Prim by Narcís Oller, El libro de los pasajes, by Jorge Carrión, Rutes literàries per Barcelona by Maria Nunes, José García by Jordi Corominas.

Antoni Yranzo has designed the sculpture “Petjades” to evoke the memory of all those steps that have crossed the Passage throughout history, exchanging goods and stories of Barcelona, this is our small tribute to her.
